Tennis is a popular sport that is enjoyed by many men and women worldwide. The sport came about in the 1800’s and is believed to be founded by Major Walter Clopton Wingfield who is a British army officer. Once referred to as “lawn tennis,” the game of tennis is played with two tools: a racquet and a ball.
The sport can be played 1-on-1 or 2-on-2. Each opponent (or team) stand opposite sides of a tennis net/court where one person hits a ball over the net into another’s court space. When the ball lands in the opponents court area, they must strike the ball back after it lands in their space.
For an individual to get a point, they must land the ball in the person’s court and the other person has to miss the ball.
